Tom Jones writes "Avast! Ye scurvy dogs! So you have sailed to our site and are wondering what the heck a Pie Rat is. Well, wait no further. Click here or click the read more button below and find out.
The PIErat is a seafaring pirate rat that plunders pies instead of gold. "Sixteen men on a dead rats chest. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum."
Well I first heard of Pie Rats in the story THE QUITE REMARKABLE ADVENTURES OF THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT, by Eric Idle, illustrated by Wesla Weller. In this wonderful story the Owl and the Pussycat are attacked by a band of ruthless Pie Rats who are out to steal pies. There is also an audio version of this story (which was actually the version I read??..um listened to) and it has some great songs also sung by Eric Idle. This book is based on the Edward Lear poem The Owl and the Pussycat.
Another wonderful short story is ZORRO AND THE PIERATS, by Larry Smith, illustrated by Andreas Rimheden. The original site can be found here.
